If you liked the style of One Punch Man, take a look at ONE’s other creation – Mob Psycho 100. This comedic coming-of-age anime focuses on Shigeo Kageyama a.k.a Mob, a high school psychic whose power is expressed through percentages. He suppresses his feelings and emotions, despite being triggered until he reaches 100% and his true power is unleashed.
Throughout the three seasons of the show, there are several instances where Mob's emotions reach 100% and even "???%," causing his form to transform into a breathtaking display of neon lights and natural disasters. His great power manifests through emotions and is always on behalf of others (though it gets a bit more selfish in season 3, but no spoilers here).
Mob represents the dormant power within, which, when unleashed, becomes a formidable force used selflessly to protect his loved ones. In this blog, we will explore various tattoo designs inspired by Mob, allowing you to express your inner strength and admiration for the character.
Mighty Mob
Artist - Derrick O'Neal
Shigeyo is the main protagonist of the series and a core aspect of his character is his pursuit of physically strengthening himself. The design shows this by the levitating dumbbells and ropes around him.
There’s also the ?? detail which the anime often uses as an indicator of Mob’s power. Overall, it’s a really cool design inspired by Mob Psycho 100.
Colored Mob Tattoo
Artist - Ian W
That green blob in the lower right of the tattoo is Dimple, a recurring character in the series who plays the role of an anti-hero. Despite his ill-intentions toward Mob and his brother as conduits because of their innate spiritual power, he actually often helps Mob reel in his powers when it gets too much, like a mentor in a way alongside Arataka Reigen, Mob’s employer.
This design is one of the first colored pieces by the artist, and it’s done well with the use of bright colors for Mob’s power, dark shading behind him, and Dimple’s ethereal glow.
Mob at Full Power
Artist - Serena Armstrong
This design on the upper arm looks incredible with the neonesque colors used to express Mob’s power. The artist has a video on their profile that shows the beauty of it with streaks of color and a countdown to 100; Mob’s highest extent of power.
Mob and All His Glory
Artist - Allyn Grima
Compared to all the designs on this blog, this one looks the most uncontrolled. The dominant black and white colors around the hand emphasize the red hues around Shigeyo with an ominous glow. He appears the most dangerous here with his vacant eyes and the same red reflecting on them.
We know he’s scared of unleashing his powers as explained in episode, 3 so seeing him look wild in this design is another explorable aspect of Mob that’s great to look at – a creepy expression of power or sangfroid calm.
Black and White Mob 100
Artist - Green Soap
This design takes inspiration directly from Season 1 when Mob fights in his school uniform. It’s such a simple black-and-white design, but you can see his power with the surrounding debris and the small percentage above his head, instead of the usual 100%.
Vintage Mob Psycho
Artist - Libby Lou
This tattoo design has a faded look that’s reminiscent of the vintage design in the manga, as Mob Psycho 100 originated as a manga before being turned into an anime. Here we see a Dimple as an aloof spirit looming over Shigeyo as he reaches out with a look of determination.
Throughout the anime, we really do see Shigeyo trying his best to live a life without regret while still exorcizing spirits and keeping his power in check so he doesn’t overload and reach 100%.
Futuristic Mob
Artist - Sonya Moses
Lastly, when not expressing his powers, Shigeyo looks like any other student from their high school aside from his signature bowl cut. The artist designed this look with the opening of Season 1 in mind, which is why it includes bright colors and glitches. These elements are associated with Mob's powers and how colorfully expressive the whole anime is. It even features sketchy Dimple, mentor Reigen, the sign to the psychic office, and glitches.
